February and June 2011
We left Bogota (Colombia) heading south, we visited Ecuador for the Sierra, we went to Peru for the little-traveled border of La Balsa and came to Lima.
In Lima, we took plane to Iquitos to explore the Amazon River by boat to Manaus (Brazil) with a stop in Leticia (Colombia).
Finally, we returned to Venezuela and Colombia in the north to get back to Bogotá. In total, 4 months of travel.
The best: The variety. Multitude of landscapes, people, weather ... However, a few kilometers.
Worst: Bad roads in the Andes of Peru.
The country we liked: Peru. It has everything: history, archeology, nature, variety.
The least liked country: Venezuela. Caro, unkind people, little variety in food.
The friendliest people: Colombians. And is not local, many travelers agree in this opinion.
Food: The best, the Peruvian. The worst in Venezuela. What most certainly eaten throughout the region is roast chicken and rice.
Reference Price:
Here we summarize the price (average) in the countries that we visited. When we talk about Brazil, Manaus is only and nearby villages, the Amazon.
Of course, prices are to where we usually go, the cheapest. So we travel on to go backpacking more ... with less money.
Above rates are available on the entries by country. Prices 2011.
