EGYPT. Red Sea - Sinai - Alexandria. Useful Information

LUXOR - DAHAB

As we fail to train Luxor - Cairo, plan B went on  bus to Dahab.

Price: 130 Le (Care you try to ask a lot more). The journey takes 15 hours. The bus leaves in the afternoon.

Dahab has great atmosphere and gets backpacker cheap accommodation.

Hostel in Dahab : Bedouin Lodge.40 Lwith private bathroom.

Walk south and north. Incredible ocean floor right in front of the beach.  Attention jellyfish in certain areas.

We do not do scuba diving, enjoy the incredible ocean floor without swimming far from shore. Only swimming goggles saw beautiful fish and coral, so we do not imagine sea. Therefore, it is famous site for divers.

MOUNT SINAI.

Transportation Dahab - Santa Khaterine: collective 35 Le (they charged us 40).

Entrance to the "Protectorate": $ 3 for visitors.

On the way there a police checkpoint where we were told that the monastery was closed until Wednesday for a special and Orthodox party to ascend the hill we had to hire a guide, supposedly mandatory.

All false. We went to the monastery for free (we slipped) and climb the mountain without a guide.

The downside is that it snowed (for several years did not happen) and it was very cold. The ascent is easy. It takes between up and down about 4 hours.

Lodging : We stayed at   Camp Desert Fox Farag.40Lewithout bath. Very cold in winter. Very simple but friendly people. The trouble is that was too cold, no hot shower, so we went in terror.

Alexandria.

Generally, hotels are not as cheap as the rest of the country. The food however, if it is cheaper and more varied.

It has nothing to do with Cairo, is much quieter, liveable and inviting. The environment is very noticeable especially by youth around the library is also the university area. It is the most cosmopolitan city in Egypt.
